Simply Nas...

Nas's new album cover

Kanye West - Flashing Lights (3rd Version)

Nas And DJ Green Lantern To Release The Nigger Tape

It looks like Nigger will get to see the light of day after all. Barely a week after scrapping the controversial title to his 9th solo album, word is Nas is scheduled to team up with DJ Green Lantern to drop The Nigger Tape.

“I guess it shows you the power of Wal-Mart and Target,” Green told Rhapsody’s Play blog regarding Nas’ title switch. “If that was the case, it’s definitely scary because it kind of fucks with your artistic vision. But Nas and DJ Green Lantern are coming out with a mixtape called The Nigger Tape. Can’t nobody hold that back.”

The tape will feature exclusive tracks, remixes and outtakes, including an unreleased verse from Nas’s recently released “Be A Nigger Too,” Black President,” a cut initially slated to appear on Green’s Barak Obama mixtape and “Legendary,” the theme song to a forthcoming Mike Tyson documentary. A new version of “The Last Real Nigga Alive,” which originally appeared on God’s Son, is also expected to make the final cut.

As previously reported, Nas recently changed his album title. At press time, the CD was still untitled. The Queens lyricist initially announced that he’d be titling his next offering, Nigga during a New York performance at Nokia Theater last year. Having sparked discussions, the MC promptly changed the LP’s spelling to Nigger. Backed by Def Jam Records Chairman L.A. Reid and then-President Jay-Z, Nas stuck to his guns until retail stores concerns, among other things, grew overwhelming

Kanye West - Flashing Lights Video (Official 2nd Version)

Kanye West And Common Sued

Kanye West, Common, Method Man, and Redman, along with their record companies were sued May 22, 2008 by a late Jazz artists’ daughter over a sample used in various songs by the rappers. Kathleen Firrantello, whose father is musician Joe Farrell, filed the suit in a U.S. District Court in New York. Firrantello claims portions of her father’s 1974 track “Upon This Rock” was used in West’s “Gone,” Common’s “Chi-City,” and Meth and Red’s “Run 4 Cover.” She’s seeking $1 million dollars in damages and asking that no further copies of the songs be sold or performed…

Lil’ Wayne Number One Again

Li-li-li-li-like number one. Lil’ Wayne’s “Lollipop” returns to number one this week on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. The lead single from the Cash Money star’s forthcoming Tha Carter 3 makes its mark back on top after a three-week break. It’s the longest gap for one song to make it back to number one since Usher’s “U Got It Bad” went four weeks between number one status in January 2002. Weezy also hosted Bun B’s album release party this week in Houston’s Bar Rio. The Texas veteran performed in front of an audience that included Chamillionaire, Rap-A-Lot head J. Prince, among others…

50 Cent Responds To 106 & Park’s Rocsi: “She’s A Pop. I know Four People She Slept With.”

50 Cent has just added 106 & Park’s Rocsi to his long dis list.
The Queens rapper phoned into Washington, D.C.’s WKYS radio station yesterday during Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks’ “G-Unit Takeover” to respond to the BET host’s recent jabs towards him.
“What’s the girl’s name from 106 & Park?” Fif mockingly asked. “She said something crazy on the tape. My first reaction towards it was, I should probably tell people who she is for real. She’s a pop. I know like four people she slept with.
“So it’s favoritism when you sit on the couch,” he continued. “‘Cause I ain’t got time to sleep with you and hang with you to make you like me when I come on the show. That’s just not how I do things. I knew it’s been this way for a long time, it just actually came out now.”
Old footage of Rocsi dissing 50 Cent surfaced online recently. In the clip, the BET personality proceeds to trash Fif when asked who she favored in 50 Cent and Kanye West’s historic SoundScan showdown. “Get that Kanye,” Rocsi told the interviewer. “Forget that 50 Cent. It’s garbage.”

Jay-Z To Represent New Jersey Nets At NBA Draft Lottery

He has an album under his belt called “The Gift and The Curse,” but New Jersey Nets executives are hoping Jay-Z is more of the former rather than the latter.
The Brooklyn rapper, who has an ownership stake in the team, will represent the Nets at the NBA Draft Lottery, which is set to air live May 20 on ESPN at 8pm.
“This is very exciting and I hope my nickname “Lucky Lefty” holds up,” Hov said in a statement.
The Nets only have a 1.1 percent chance of landing the top pick in the draft held June 26. This is the first time the team has been in the draft since 2001, the season before Jason Kidd teamed with Richard Jefferson and Kenyon Martin to lead the Nets to back-to-back NBA Finals appearances.
Jay-Z, along with Nelly (Charlotte Bobcats) and Usher (Cleveland Cavaliers), are the only hip-hop or R&B acts with a minority ownership stake in a professional sports team. All three can regularly be seen at games. Jay-Z is also an avid support of relocating the Nets to Brooklyn, New York from New Jersey

Nas Reportedly Scraps “Nigger” As Album Title

Nas may be as outspoken as they come, but apparently even a revolutionary has to know when to pick his battles. The Queensbridge rapper is reportedly scrapping the controversial title of his forthcoming album, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Nas’s album was set to be called Nigger, but now the project will move forward as a self-titled album, Nas, instead.
The project is scheduled to hit shelves July 1.
The former Firm member created as stir last year when he announced at a New York show that his next album would be titled Nigga. The reaction he received then caused him to up the ante and change the title to the more provocatively spelled, Nigger.
Publicly Def Jam executives, notably L.A.Reid and Jay-Z , supported Nas’ decision and in interviews hailed his artistry as a reason why judgment should not be passed on the rapper’s thinking.
But rumblings soon began that the album would not see the light of day with that title, citing placement in retail stores as one of multiple reasons for a switch.
Nas recently loosen the reins on the tightly-guarded album, by putting the first single from the album, “Be A Nigger Too,” out and servicing it to DJs. The album release date had been pushed back several times. At one point Nigger was set for a February release to coincide with Black History Month.
The QB poet previewed the album for MTV News last week. Among the songs included were “Project Roach,” Y’all My Niggers,” and “This Is Not America.”
Although Nas appeared confident with the album, in an interview with MTV earlier this month, he admitted that because of label pressure he wasn’t sure what the title would be come release time.
“Record stores are gonna have a problem in this day and time selling a record with that title,” Nas explained. “Who knows what’s gonna turn out and be on that title? Who knows what the title will be? It was important to me to let the fans know what the album would be musically…Everybody is trying to stop the title. It’s just people being scared of what’s real. Somebody is trying to open up dialogue for people to talk. People that’s high up, who aren’t really understanding what I’m doing, are scared.

Bun B Talks Sean Kingston Collaboration

Bun B’s been known to work with an artist or two. Back in 2005, during his “Free Pimp C” campaign, the underground king was among hip-hop’s most sought-after guest MCs -working with everyone from Beyonce Knowles to Little Brother. But, “That’s Gangsta,” II Trill’s lead single featuring teen sensation Sean Kingston, caught some by surprise.
“Well, it’s not like I said, ‘I’ma just do a song with Sean Kingston,’” Bun explained. “When I got the track, he was already on the track. I got the track from J.R. Rotem and he’s J.R.’s artist. I didn’t see the need to put anybody else on that record. I didn’t look at it like it’s a kiddie style. I don’t look at the world like that. I heard a record where he was already singing on it. I didn’t see a problem with it.”
The brow-raising single did see minor problems, though. Unable to get some legs under the song’s video in time for II Trill’s initial release date, Bun decide to push the album back. “We pushed it back to allow the video some time to play,” Bun told Phresh Juice. “By the time the video came out and started running , it was gon be when the album was coming out and we needed at least a two or three weeks burn of the video to get some awareness.”

Kanye West Named “Hottest MC in the Game” By MTV

Kanye West was crowned the “Hottest MC in the Game” Friday night by the MTV News hip-hop brain trust. The Grammy-winning rapper topped Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Snoop Dogg, who rounded out the top five.West landed at number five on last year’s list, which Weezy easily soared to the top of. The New Orleans rapper’s stock seemed to drop due to the time it’s taking for him to deliver his long-waited Tha Carter III album.’Ye’s last 12 months have been nothing short of outstanding. The Chicago lyricist bested 50 Cent in their much-hyped SoundScan showdown, notched a number one album with his third LP, Graduation, and has sold out seats for weeks now on his “Glow In The Dark.” The Roc-A-Fella rapper also lost his mother, Donda West, to complications that arose from cosmetic surgery. He immortalized her in performances overseas and at last year’s Grammy performance. To say that Kanye has been resilient is an understatement.50 Cent landed at number six on the list, rising two spots from his eighth place standing previously. The G-Unit general rebounded with several solid mixtape efforts and the launch of his new business venture, ThisIs50.com.Lupe Fiasco, Young Jeezy, Andre 3000, and T.I. make the complete top-ten list.Ross, Snoop, and Lupe were the only new additions compared to the 2007 edition

Kanye West Performs At G-Shock 25th Anniversary Celebration And More In “The Roundup”

Kanye West took to the stage last night at Guastavino’s in Manhattan last night to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Casio’s G-Shock watch. Spike Lee was one of many in attendance that saw the dapper rapper perform a number of his hits, including “I Wonder” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.” West’s brief show came one night after his performance at Madison Square Garden. The New York Daily News reviewed West’s much ballyhooed “Glow In The Dark” tour and was harsh on the Def Jam star. Entertainment Weekly previously had a negative review of West’s show and the rapper ripped the magazine telling the publication they wouldn’t be invited to another show…

The Neptune’s Pharrell Williams introduced his latest proteges, Chester French, at a showcase in New York on Tuesday night. The group, a couple of Harvard grads, performed a ten-song set at the Cutting Room. The group, duo D.A. Wallach and Maxwell Drummey, were signed to William’s Star Trak label after Kanye West and Jermaine Dupri expressed interest in signing the pop act. Chad Hugo, Ryan Leslie, Hot 97’s Miss Info and Latina Editor-in-Chief Mimi Valdes were among those in attendance…

Twista and his group, Speedknot Mobstaz, are set to hit the road as a part of the Rock The Vote tour. The Chicago veterans will embark on the twenty-plus date bill as they also prep for the release of their latest album, Mobstability II: Nation Biznezz. The album will hit stores May 27 via Twista’s Get Money Gang imprint with Koch Records.

T.I. First Rapper To Be Revealed On MTV’s Hottest MCs List

T.I. has been named the 10th Hottest MC in the game right now, according to MTV News. The network kicked off their 2008 edition of their roundtable discussion “Hottest MCs” by teasing the number 10 spot online.

The show, which will rank rappers one through 10, debuts this Friday at 10pm on MTV. Tip pulls in at a number 10 ranking despite having not released much material. The rapper and rising actor also suffered through legal battles, notably his arrest for purchasing illegal firearms. T.I. is a convicted felon and under Georgia state law is not permitted to purchase guns.

Despite his ordeals, T.I. was able to notch the last spot, slipping in where Jim Jones landed last year, surprising many.”Hurt,” from his T.I. vs T.I.P, was still on the radar and the rapper’s first single from the forthcoming Paper Trail, “No Matter What” leaked just in time to help T.I.’s case. T.I.’s vested interest in the Web site streetcred.com and his verses to remixes by Rocko (”Umma Do Me”) and Lupe Fiasco (”Superstar”) also boosted his appeal. -Rodrigo Lopez

If You Thought Fu*kin for Tracks Was Phony….

Another Day, Another Lawsuit

Lil Kim’s about to collect a sizeable check:

“Lil’ Kim notched a victory in court yesterday, when a judge awarded her $500,000 dollars over an unauthorized DVD released by former cohort Lil’ Cease. Lil’ Kim filed the $6 million dollar lawsuit against Lil’ Cease in July of 2005, claiming the former Junior M.A.F.I.A. member illegally used her name and likeness to promote his DVD The Chronicles of Junior M.A.F.I.A. Part II: Reloaded.”

Good for her, maybe now she can get her ride back from the repo man.

Tatted Up Chubby Swag

Ricky Ross should never leave the house without a shirt mainly because the sight of his bare belly is a fright before noon. However, we couldn’t resist; he steals the show in this July ‘08 XXL cover shot .

We didn’t even notice Trina, Flo Rida, and DJ Khaled with all that chubby flubbering around.

The Game: 50 Cent and Tony Yayo Got They Real Boo Lovin’ Thing Down

The Game sheds some light on the G-Unit train of dropouts:

I’ve been telling you Buck’s the next to go for like four years, three years. After that, it’s Banks, but I don’t think that Yayo will ever break they thing ’cause they got they real boo lovin’ thing down. Banks is gonna be next man.”

“50 needs to change his ways man. Until then, you gonna see his empire dismantle itself,” explained The Game. “It’s like a totem pole man. Dre worked with Pac, then he found Snoop. … Dre found Snoop, and let Snoop blow up. Look at Snoop today, Dre never stopped Snoop from blowing up. Dre had helped Snoop, and it was in good business. Then Dre found a white boy from Detroit, and he came in… Dre gave Eminem the chance to blow and they never stopped. Then they gave it to 50, and let him blow. 50 didn’t pass the baton like that man. … [50 Cent] wanted everybody to be soldiers forever, forever, forever, forever… and grow old … That will never hold up.

“I never hold grudges. Curtis could call me tomorrow and we could work it out,” he said. “With him, he’s to the grave with it. Next time I run into them, I’mma just let them beat me up. Maybe that’ll do it — Yayo beat me up and 50 beat me up. Maybe they’ll feel better… just beat me up ’cause I could take it. I ain’t got no glass jaw… beat me up. I’ll take it … and then let’s just end it like that.”

Remy Ma, Papoose Nuptials Called Off After Jail Officials Find Illegal Item On Visiting Rapper

Instead of saying “I do,” Remy Ma and Papoose appeared to have uttered another two-word phrase instead: “Uh oh.”
According to the New York Daily News, the two rapper’s Rikers Island wedding plans were cancelled yesterday (May 12) after prison officials discovered what appeared to be a handcuff key in Papoose’s possession.
Law enforcement officials escorted the Brooklyn lyricist out of the jail. Now Papoose won’t be able to visit his Bronx bride-to-be for another six months, the newspaper is reporting.
“A wedding was scheduled today and a visitor to that wedding service was found to be in possession of a jail contraband so the wedding was cancelled,” an official told the Daily News. “The key that was found today easily opened handcuffs that we and other law enforcement officials use.”
Hot 97’s Miss Info, however, is reporting DJ Kay Slay informed her Papoose entered the prison willingly for his nuptials and gave his personal items to a guard upon entering the building. The guard apparently looked over the rapper’s property and found his keychain to be in violation of the jail’s terms and identified it as a skeleton key. He was then jailed afterward.
Papoose’s mother told Phresh Juice today outside of the courtroom that she was present during the time and did not understand why officials were detaining her song. She said he displayed the same personal items he always does when he visits Remy Ma. “Why would he do anything different and disrespect his own mother like that,” she said. According to the Brooklyn rapper’s mother, her son and Remy Ma weren’t even able to see each other yesterday. The ceremony will still place Remy Ma’s attorney told the press today outside the court house.
Papoose stunned the hip-hop community recently when we announced his plans to marry the imprisoned Remy Ma. The two were rumored to be an item, but the rappers kept hush regarding their relationship. So it was a surprise when Papoose not only revealed he and Remy Ma were a couple but that they would also soon be husband and wife.
Remy Ma is currently being held behind bars after she was found guilty on multiple counts of assault and weapons possession. The Grammy-nominated rapper got into a scuffle and shot a former friend last year after leaving a party of a mutual person. Remy Ma is scheduled to be sentenced May 13.

BREAKING NEWS: Remy Ma Sentenced To Eight Years In Prison

New York–Grammy-nominated rapper Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years in prison today by a Manhattan Supreme Court judge for shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph after the two argued over money after leaving a party.Supporters of the rapper (real name, Remy Smith) were present outside the court room adorned in red and white T-shirts bearing the words “Free Remy” across the front. After the verdict was announced a number of family and friends of the rapper exited the court room in tears. An associate of Smith’s exited the courtroom and upon seeing what appeared to be friends of Barnes-Joseph spit in their direction.”I’m not a thug,” Remy Ma told Judge Rena Uviller, asking for mercy in her sentencing. “I’m not a hardcore anything, I have feelings. I’m a wife, mother, daughter, a big sister.”Prosecutors lobbied for a 13-year sentence, but the judge settled on eight. Remy Ma’s camp insisted on five years, but both her attorney and management said they were happy with the judge’s leniency. Her lawyer, Ivan Fisher, said he intends to appeal the sentencing. In March a judge found Remy Ma guilty on multiple counts of assault and weapons possession. She also had been charged with witness tampering and gang intimidation after an incident occurred in the Bronx where Barnes-Joseph’s boyfriend was attacked. A judge later threw the charges out.Papoose, the rapper’s fiance, held a stoic look on his face as he left the courtroom. The day before he was involved in an incident at Riker’s Island when he visited Remy Ma.The pair were scheduled to marry but prison officials denied Papoose after they thought an item of his was a skeleton key. Papoose’s mother denied the charge.Pap later got into an argument with court officers and had to be escorted out.The rapper later gathered his composure outside the courthouse and addressed the media, telling them money motivated the decision.”Fuck jail,” he yelled as his friends pulled him away during the melee. “Fuck jail, lock me up. I don’t care, y’all just want money. She didn’t’ do nothing.”Initially, Smith vehemently denied the shooting. The rapper claimed she did not have a gun, nor did she fire the shots that struck Barnes-Joseph in the stomach.Barnes-Joseph was hospitalized for her injuries and media swarmed Remy Ma’s New Jersey home questioning the rapper. In July of last year, she shouted her innocence to reporters from the second-floor window of her house. “I didn’t shoot my friend,” she said.In March of this year, however, her attorney, Ivan Fisher, finally admitted the rapper’s role in the shooting during the case’s closing arguments.Fisher called the action a mistake. According to the Associated Press, Fisher, at the time, explained the gun went off after the two women were struggling over the weapon and the firearm accidentally discharged. An assistant district attorney in the case, Michael McIntosh, pressed that the rapper took every premeditated step to carry out her plan, from loading the weapon to entering the victim’s car brandishing the gun. “She took every step you had to take to shoot somebody,” McIntosh said during closing arguments.Barnes-Joseph filed a multi-million dollar civil suit against Remy Ma in December. She later withdrew the lawsuit, but still has the option to re-file the suit.

Nate Dogg “Alive And Well” Says Manager

Crooner Nate Dogg is alive and well, according to his manager.
The former Death Row artist’s MySpace page was hacked into over the weekend and a post was made saying Nate Dogg had passed. The singer suffered a stroke late last year and has been recovering in private since. There was also confusion initially when the singer was hospitilized after his ailment. Reports surfaced that Nate Dogg had a heart attack when instead he suffered a stroke. The singer at the time was paralyzed on the left side of his body as a result, but McCrew said Nate Dogg’s recovery has been going fine. During the aftermath of Nate Dogg’s stroke, tabloid Web site TMZ posted audio of the 911 call that was made. McCrew chastised media outlets and bloggers for continued interest in a private matter such as the phone call.

Suge Knight Knocked Out In Club Brawl

Death Row Records founder Suge Knight was involved in an alteration at a Los Angeles night spot over the weekend that resulted in the hefty hit maker getting knocked out cold.
According to TMZ, Knight and a group of men beat an unidentified man at Shag nightclub after the Death Row head and the man got into a heated discussion. Knight and the man were involved in a conversation before witnesses said Knight shouted “I want my money!”
After Knight and his crew assaulted the man, TMZ reports the man got up from the ground and landed a punch to Knight’s face that resulted in the infamous music mogul hitting the deck. Sources told the gossip Web site Knight was out cold for nearly three minutes.

New details are emerging that suggest Knight was involved in two separate incident within a matter of minutes. The party involved in the first melee may not have been the individual responsible for flooring Knight. According to reports, a suspect with the man who received the beat down from Knight and his cronies may have been the one who delivered the blow with a weapon. Another scenario that is being spread is that another group witnessing the brawl may have had a role Knight’s injury. Neither report, however, has been confirmed with police or members of Knight’s camp.
Knight and his entourage exited the club amid a minor frenzy following the fight. A woman attempted to drive Knight away in an SUV but hit other cars when she both pulled forward and reversed. Security removed the woman from the car and another member of Knight’s posse drove him to the hospital. According to the report, police attempted to talk to Knight at the medical facility but he was uncooperative and refused to file a police report regarding the incident.

T.I sets August 12 release date for "Paper Trail"

T.I has set August 12th as the worldwide release date for his highly anticipated album "Paper Trail."

In addition, T.I spoke on BET's "Access Granted," and blamed paranoia for his gun conviction.

"You can't assume everyone out there likes you, so it's easy to get caught up in paranoia," T.I said. "I must be a man and stand up and accept responsibility."

T.I went on to say that his arrests for gun and drug charges over the years will now effect the content of his music to a degree.

"I can't talk about guns and drugs as elaborately because they're not part of my life anymore. If you think guns, drugs and violence are cool, I think you are definitely missing the point.... There's nothing cool about going to jail."

“Hottest MCs In The Game” Show To Return To MTV

MTV News announced today the “Hottest MCs In The Game” show is set to return May 16. The panel-discussion debate premiered last year and crowned Lil’ Wayne the top act in hip-hop, with T.I., Game, Andre 3000, and Kanye West rounding out the top five.

The show riled some artists, with 50 Cent saying “Fuck MTV” for his number eight ranking. Lupe Fiasco was equally perturbed at missing the list. Jim Jones, however, was pleasantly surprised at notching the number 10 slot.

The 2008 edition comes almost a year to the date of the first show. Wayne, West, and Fif remain among the favorites to make the new list. The list is compiled from the cut off point from the 2007 show until the end of March 2008.

MTV host Sway will moderate the discussion with the MTV News brain trust again, and esteemed journalist Shaheem Reid and producer Rahman Dukes will spearhead the program and online initiative.

“Hottest MCs In The Game” 2008 follows on the heals of MTV’s “The Greatest MCs of All Time,” “The Greatest Hip-Hop Groups of All Time,” and “The Greatest Hip-Hop Albums of All Time.”

“Hottest MCs…” will air next Friday at 10pm on MTV. –Rodrigo Lopez

Lil’ Wayne Scraps G-Unit Tour, Plans Road Trip With Keyshia Cole

It looks like Lil’ Wayne may be touring with R&B singer Keyshia Cole to support The Carter III when it finally hits stores. According to MTV.com, Weezy initially negotiated with 50 Cent to hit the road with G-Unit later this year. “Um, that one, I don’t think is gonna work no more,” Wayne revealed to MTV about the aborted G-Unit tour. “It was something that ain’t went right. I think I might go out with Keyshia Cole. You’re bringing two different types of people in there. You got people coming to soothe their souls with Keyshia, and you got people who wanna throw their hands up with me.” Cole is also looking forward to touring with Wayne. “I’ma kidnap him and take him on tour with me,” Cole told MTV. “I think it’s a little harder to get him on the stage than it is to get me. We gotta make sure we get together on that.” Wayne and Cole have shared stages before. The two co-headlined BET’s Spring Bling earlier this year.

Foxy Brown Lawyer Says Court Officials Made Error

A lawyer for Foxy Brown cleared up a misunderstanding with a Brooklyn Criminal Court judge who issued a bench warrant earlier today for the female rapper.
TMZ reported Foxy failed to appear in court this morning and as a result she was a wanted woman. But the celebrity tabloid Web site spoke to the Don Diva’s lawyer who stated her client’s case was delayed until May 8.
The court agreed to postponed the case but, according to Laura Dilimetin, court officials failed to update their records. When they realized the mistake, she said, the bench warrant was recalled. Foxy presently faces assault and weapons charges stemming from an incident in which she allegedly hit a Brooklyn woman with her BlackBerry phone device.

Jay-Z Sets Up Educational Fund For Sean Bell’s Children

Jay-Z has established educational funds for shooting victim Sean Bell’s children, XXLmag.com has learned. The hip-hop mogul and Bell’s fiance Nicole Paultre (who later changed her surname to Bell), along with her attorney, worked out the details involving the charitable offer months ago, according to a source close to the rapper. It’s not clear yet the particular details of the agreement, but it is assumed the Brooklyn icon’s contribution will help send both of Bell’s children to college, should they choose to go. A New York judge acquitted the three detectives who fired the 51 shots that took Bell’s life and wounded two of his friends after the group left Bell’s bachelor party in Queens. A number of rallies have been held to protest the controversial verdict. The highly-charged trial was followed closely around the country by many and prior to and after the case, a number of rappers, including Papoose, Joell Ortiz, and The Game, voiced their support for Bell and his family in song.

Common Gets Electric With New LP, Invincible Summer

There must be something to this acting thing for Common. Ever since the Chicago rapper started devoting more time to Tinseltown, he also suddenly shifted to frenetic work pace with his music. Com is set to deliver yet another album this summer, titled Invincible Summer, according to Billboard. The album comes on the heals of his last project, Finding Forever, which spawned the Grammy-nominated collaboration “Southside” featuring Kanye West. Invincible Summer, however, won’t feature production from West, who had become a musical muse to Common. The two Windy City residents reunited on Com’s BE and Finding Forever. Common gave ‘Ye credit for inspiring him again, but on the new album he decided to go a different route. Mainly because West was busy on his Glow in the Dark tour, Common said he couldn’t get much studio time with the producer. So he instead hooked up with the Neptunes and one-time OutKast contributor Mr. DJ. The result is a more electro-tinged sound, reports Billboard. Cee-Lo, Chester French, and Santogold are expected to appear on Invincible Summer. The album is tentatively due in July.
